Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived. ~Jean Luc Picard

Patrice's Baby Shower

My little sister Patrice is ready to bring little RJ into the world any day now. My friend Jessica and I threw her a baby shower the first weekend in November.

It was Monkey Themed. And involved a lot of chocolate... haha

She received lots of good stuff and enjoyed the company of family, friends, and her three soon to be step-daughters. :)

We're excited for baby RJ to come!!

October... and some of the stuff that happened during it... picture style...

*National Breast Cancer Awareness Month "Feel Your Tatas!"
We're wore pink at work to celebrate on the Hospital's wear pink day!

*We went to Monticello for the deer hunt. Hayden traveled with us. He kept us laughing almost the whole time. On the drive there, Hayden kept staring at these girls that were driving as we passed them. He recognized that they lived in Cedar because he had seen that car with a "spoon me" sticker on the back. He kept talking about how they are looking at him. I didn't think anything of it. Hayden says he bets they will give us their number. I say no way. Luke launches into how that happens/ed to him all the time. We're thinking whatever. The next thing we know... they speed up, pull to the side of us, and slap their number on the window. Hayden called and chatted with them. He went on to tell us that he didn't seriously think that they would do it, and that he needs to bring Luke along when he wants to pick up on chicks. I'm shaking my head even as I write this... it was something else. haha

I was also able to take lots of family pics. :) Spend lots of time with great family. Wondered how on Earth I'm going to be a mom after watching Wendy be supermom to 4 kids. And ate lots of yummy food as usual.

*We got the swine flu. Me first, then poor Luke. We sat at home, coughed to death(but we're still alive), watched FRIENDS on DVD and ordered pizza. WOW.

*I made the journey to Logan for a trip I had planned for forever. I stayed with Nicole and we hung out and went to a photography class together. I was not contagious, but still swining it up pretty good. Every time I laughed it would launch me into a coughing fit. Thanks for letting me come anyway. I forgot pretty much all of my toiletries so after the Halloween party Nic took me to, we went to Wal-Mart... in our costumes... the week before Halloween. Some little girl came up and asked me if I was Harry Potty, I said no.... I am Luna Lovegood though. She proceeded to then say, "I don't know who that is, but can I have a hug anyway?" I sure gave her a hug. I was a celebrity for .2 seconds in Wal-mart. haha. I also got to stop at Dexter and Mindy's on my way home for some delicious dinner (gosh they always feed me good food when I'm up there) and some fun taking family pictures!

*I convinced everyone at work that we should all dress up Harry Potter like for the day before Halloween. KM got her hands on some Hogwarts banners. We were one dang stinking cool office. The patients loved it, the doctor laughed at us. I think we should dress up at work more often... seriously.

*We went to Retta & Tyler's for Autumn's first birthday and had a lot of fun. Then we came home and went to a Halloween Party that the Billette's and the Batty's were having. It was sure fun. We were Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood, the coupling that no one ever knew about... haha... sure.

I'm sure there was some other stuff in there that happened... but it is all a blur!

Nov. 11 - I'm Grateful Today...

My House...

Even though it may be messier than I like, it is my refuge and I love it so much. There is nothing better than coming home in the fall/winter, drinking hot cider, turning on the fireplace, and cuddling with my husband. As for the spring/summer, I love that we have a yard to hang out and play in. I love that we can spend the evening talking in our ghetto swing and eat fruit fresh off the tree. Our little cottage is just that... OURS... and I'm so grateful for it.

Nov. 5 - I'm Grateful Today...

I'm grateful today for my coworker Amy introducing me to exercise ball jousting...

This video is of her and a previous roommate (Jeffie, who I incidentally knew from the psych department). I laughed SO hard.

Anyone care to challenge me to a match? haha!

As for my Adoption post... if you haven't already had to chance to view my post from yesterday. Please do. :)

Nov. 4 - I'm Grateful Today... for Adoption

Today I am combining my daily gratitude and daily adoption posts.

Today I am grateful for this song. I hope you'll take the time to listen to this song, Marie Osmond is singing it in this youtube video.

I tear up or just full on cry every time I hear this song.

This song was written by Michael McLean. I have a whole adoption book that is accompanied by a cd of original songs he wrote about adoption. At the beginning of the book he shares the story that is behind this song, which was followed by several songs after.

Here is his story:

"Years ago I had an experience that changed my life forever. I wasn't looking for a change, didn't anticipate it, and certainly had no inkling of where it would lead me. I was invited into the world of adoption by a young unwed mother who asked me if I could write a song that she could sing for the couple she had decided to give her baby to. Her choice was a childless couple, married nearly a decade, and from her point of view, they were perfect. She had a feeling this was the best thing she could do for her soon-to-be-born child, but she needed a song to seal the peace of her decision.

Her fear was that her baby might grow up feeling that if his own birth mother would "give him away," he must not be worth much. She was also deeply concerned that the child would resent her decision if he didn't know how hard it was for her to make, and how much it was motivated by love.

The song that came from that request was titled "From God's Arms to My Arms to Yours." A few days after the baby was born and place with the couple who would raise the child as their own, I sat at a piano in a recording studio and accompanied the birth mother as she sang her heart out. She had a little snapshot of her baby clipped to the music stand next to the lyrics of the song. Never have I felt more emotion packed into a recording session...."
