SCATTER KINDNESS 

IN MEMORY OF OLIVER ALVIN CRANE

On November 23, 2011 Oliver Alvin Crane was born still.  We have thought about him everyday since then. Luke & I had spoken several times about what we would like to do to celebrate Oliver's birthday.  We have had several people ask if they can somehow be involved in whatever we choose to do for his birthday.  A couple weeks ago we made a decision. We will of course be doing several things that remind us of Oliver by ourselves.  However, we also decided on an idea that can involve family and friends in a simple but impactful way.

SO, on Friday November 23, 2012 Luke and I will SCATTER KINDNESS IN MEMORY OF OLIVER by performing RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS throughout the day. This past year we have been the recipients of so many acts of kindness. I often think of the angel nurse that delivered Oliver and the caring women from SHARE that showed so much kindness that has changed our lives. I think of the family and friends that have done and said kind things. You may never fully understand what a difference those things make. Most recently, I think of the sweet anonymous individual that laid a single white rose at Oliver's grave at the beginning of November.  Who this person is?  I may never know.  I do know that Luke and I were experiencing a weekend heavy with grief as we visited Ollie's grave and it sure warmed our hearts to be the recipients of that random act of kindness.

Service has been and continues to be a big part of our healing process. Since Friday is the day after Thanksgiving many people will be with family, friends, or out shopping among total strangers.  This provides the perfect opportunity to perform your own random acts of kindness no matter where you are on that day. It doesn't need to be anything big.  It doesn't need to be anything that was planned.  We just hope it provides the opportunity to consciously watch for an opportunity to be kind and remember Angel Ollie and his strong spirit.

Back to private...

Yikes... maybe I should make up my mind. With the recent loss of our baby Oliver, I've made the decision to make our blog private again. I just feel like I need a little more privacy with the expression of what I'm going through, but still be able to share.

I know this is news that won't be pleasing to some friends and family who do not have blogger accounts. I really encourage you to make one and send me the e-mail for your account. I will add you to the selected viewers so that you may keep up with us.

As for my previous concern with blogger expiring subscriptions, I have no idea what to do about that. If you find that your subscription has expired, please send me an e-mail (lbcrane@gmail.com), facebook message me, or leave a comment and let me know. Blogger has indicated that now that I have switched to private, all previous subscriptions should be active. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE. :)

Back to public!

How funny that exactly one year ago I made our blog private... yikes I haven't been very good at updating... I've made the decision to make our blog public again. At least for the time being. This is due to a number of things... blogger keeps expiring people's invites and I don't know how to fix it and I have family members who don't have an account for me to invite which makes it hard. So just click on the button above to go to our "private" blog, which will now be public. :)


ON ANOTHER NOTE...

You will notice that I have pulled off our adoption profile and blog links. Now that I am more than halfway through this pregnancy we will be pulling our adoption application. It is a bitter-sweet moment for us because that has been over 3 years of our lives... We have gained so many friends through the adoption world. We have been so grateful for all the love and support in helping us spread the word about our hopes to adopt. However, please feel free to take our buttons off your blogs. We love you all and again THANK YOU!!!

November is National Adoption Awareness Month and I invite you to find some way to show support to the adoption community. Luke and I feel strongly that adoption is still in our future as we have such a great love for it.
